“No, see, it’s perfect, ‘cause it’s hot out, and we’re both already sticky and sweaty,” she states in that convincingly girlish tone that she knows he can’t resist, not that he would ever resist such an offer. “Yea, totes obvs,” he responds, already half undressed.

Ideally, a person who lives in harshly hot climates would live near the ocean, in her mind, that way, when it’s hot, at least there’s somewhere to go to enjoy the heat. Other great heat-ideal places include: dry climates, mountainous terrain, and nudist colonies.
One couple bumps into another couple, with whom they are acquainted, inside the coffee shop a few doors down from the apartment in which they all reside. The first couple spots the other, since the other is in line in front of them when they, the first couple, walks in. An exchange cannot be avoided within such confined quarters. One from the recent, entrant couple mimes to the other, It’s so-and-so and whose-a-who. They exchange glances. The friendlier of the two speaks up, “Hey, so-and-so.” The other couple turns at the sound of one of their names, and both perk up with unenthusiastic cheer, “Hiya! Long time no see. How are you?” Obviously, the first couple would rather not share, “Oh, good. You? I feel like I never see you, and then I see you all the time.” The other couple feels similarly distant, “Oh, ya know. So much stress.” The first couple nods, “Oh, yea, right. Yea, I bet that’s tough.” A small pause of awkward silence befalls them until the other couple reaches the register and is helped with their order.
Coffees in hand, the four make their way outside. “Fuck, it’s so fucking hot out.” “Yea, no shit.” “What are you guys up to today?” “We’re heading to Starfield.” The first couple clenches their teeth and readjust their faces to wipe the ugh off them, “Oh, really? Us too.” “Really, which one?” The first couple is confused, “We’re going to HOAX. There are others?” “Oh, yea, we’re heading to the Starfield that’s … north of here.” The first couple lets out a small sigh of relief. “Nice,” the friendlier of the first couple responds; “We love free air conditioning.” They all chuckle together, “Ha, yea, anywhere that’s air conditioned is where we want to be too.” “Well, stay cool out there!” “Yea, you too. See ya!”
If you eat this hot soup, not spicy hot but rather, temperature hot, boiling hot, stone pot, hot soup during the hottest days of summer, everything will be alright. When it’s hot out, fill yourself with something hotter and then the burning hot air will feel cooler than the scalding hot soup.
