It was a strict diet of vodka tonics and cheese.

And no one could ever know anything better than she, and what she knew was that after an arduous day of eating competitions, the only cure for the next-day sweats was a heavy-handed vodka tonic—hold the tonic—with an assortment of cheese. As odd as this may sound, it became the only cure after falling into such great depression that the only ingestible items of food in her house was a bottle of very old, hot vodka and a plastic sheath of orange, soft cheese individually wrapped in thin plastic sheaths.
